You've Got a Friend in Me

Everyone needs friends, right? There are many, many reasons why dogs have long been referred to as a human’s best friend (Ok, I know traditionally it's 'a man's best friend' but it's pretty clear by now that dogs like most people, regardless of gender, so maybe time to address this one). They make us laugh, they make us cry, they make us happier, healthier and many studies show that they even make us live longer. A simple wag of the tail and an affectionate nuzzle can lift our spirits and turn a bad day into a good one. They act as protector, helper, lifesaver and companion and they are so much more than just pets. They are family. They are our loyal and noble companions.

And yet not all dogs get the love and care and they deserve. The sad truth is that there are still far too many that suffer from neglect, mistreatment and worse. While Haute Dogs can't promise to change the world when it comes to dog welfare, it can certainly play it's part in raising awareness and funds for the charities that are on the frontline, those trying to bring about change and tirelessly helping thousands of dogs, both here in the UK and around the world to have happy safe lives, whether through rescue, rehabilitation, sterilisation, education or adoption.

Hats off to the milliners

2023 has been a great year for Haute Dogs, and we've been incredibly lucky to make some wonderful friends of our own who have helped our cause in many different ways. A calendar showcasing haute couture hats wouldn't exist without the amazing milliners from around the globe who donate both their time and craft for free. Each year they continue to delight and surprise us, and to surpass themselves, creating show-stopping headpieces that work not only on the rescue dogs featured, but are also on humans, making the end of year auction the place to go for planning your next outfit, whether this is for the races, a wedding or just because you can't resist the chance to get your hands on a beautiful, one off, designer piece.

Behind the scenes

Belinda Osborne of Peacock Millinery made, 'Water Lily' the hat for our cover girl, Lola. Here is a glimpse behind the scenes into the incredible artistry that it takes to create a one off, beautiful masterpiece like this. Thank you so much Belinda!
