What does it take to be a cover star?
Good looks, a strong physique, an impressive beard and a photographer with a slightly quirky imagination who likes a challenge. Oh, and a love of Abba!
Angel Eyes is one of twenty five portraits that make up the collection 'Thank you for the Music'. A mix of twenty seven dogs giving their interpretations of some of Abba's most iconic (and some slightly obscure) songs, including Dancing Queen, Ring Ring and Angel Eyes, which also became the cover for the Special Edition 'Rolling Bone' magazine.
Archie the Irish Terrier (who just happens to be the muse for You and the Dog) ticked all the right boxes when it came to a shortlist of candidates with the right star qualities - and with those eyes he was an instant winner (not to mention he was readily available and known for being keen on the treats). Below is a little snapshot of the studio session.
Time to fly Archie!
No need for the wings. I’m angelic enough….🙄
You do know us Irish Terriers are often called Red Devils? Just sayin'
Obligatory 20 minute rest break. Yes, I know I only just started, but 30 minutes in human years is like 3 hours in dog time.
What do you mean I'm too low? You clearly need a new strategy as this one isn't working for me.
Take 2.
Now we're talking. Every angel should have a throne!
Er, hello? I don't actually see a treat. Can someone please call my agent! Oh, it's you...
Come on lady, if this ain't angelic enough for you, I'm off.
OK, gotta fly. Whoa, these wings are broken!
Oh boy, I'm beyond good!
Angel angle perfected.
